About Structure: Baxter is a substantial young Labrador Retriever with a large, stocky build and plenty of natural presence. He is a hefty boy with a strong frame, broad features, and the classic Labrador look we love. Baxter has a lot of growing and maturing left to do, but he is already developing into an impressive young male. He is in good health, receives routine wellness care and grooming, and continues to mature beautifully as he grows into his larger frame.
About Temperament: Baxter is a confident, outgoing Labrador with a big personality to match his big build. He is energetic, enthusiastic, and absolutely loves being involved in whatever is happening around him. Baxter approaches life with a lot of confidence and can sometimes be a little enthusiastic with his body, earning him the occasional “bulldozer” reputation. He is incredibly food motivated, which makes him eager to engage with his handler and gives us a fantastic tool for shaping his behavior and focus. Baxter enjoys people and other dogs and has a fun, social personality. He is still learning how to channel his enthusiasm appropriately, but underneath all that energy is a happy, willing dog who genuinely wants to interact and participate.
About Training Style: Baxter has been raised with positive reinforcement training and is an extremely motivated student. Food is a powerful reward for him, and he is more than happy to work when there is something worthwhile waiting for him. His confidence and enthusiasm mean that he sometimes needs reminders to slow down, think, and use his body appropriately, but he is very responsive when given clear direction. We are working on developing impulse control, handler focus, and the ability to channel his natural energy into productive behaviors. Baxter has been exposed to a variety of public environments and everyday distractions, giving him opportunities to practice remaining connected to his handler even when life gets exciting. He continues to mature both mentally and physically, and his combination of confidence, food motivation, and willingness to work gives him a lot of potential as his training progresses. Baxter has only been introduced to a normal buckle collar and slip lead.
