The Story Behind Twisted Clovers
Thoughtful Training. Meaningful Partnerships.
At Twisted Clovers Service Dogs, we believe the right canine partner can make a meaningful difference in a person's everyday life. Our work is centered on developing capable, confident dogs and helping individuals find a partnership built around their needs, goals, and lifestyle.
Based in Northeast Iowa and serving clients nationwide, we focus on individualized training, thoughtful matching, and preparing dogs for the realities of life alongside their handlers.
Meet Brittany
I'm Brittany Demro, the owner and trainer behind Twisted Clovers Service Dogs. My life with dogs began long before this business. Growing up with Labradors gave me an early appreciation for their intelligence, versatility, and connection with people.
My interest in the human-animal bond became especially meaningful through my father's experiences as a veteran. Seeing the impact dogs can have on a person's emotional well-being helped inspire my interest in service dog work and the possibilities these partnerships can create.
With a background in animal care, education, and hands-on dog training, I've built Twisted Clovers around a simple principle: every dog and every handler is different. Successful partnerships require more than teaching commands. They require understanding the individual, recognizing a dog's strengths, and preparing both sides for the work ahead.
Our Training Philosophy
We believe effective training begins with understanding the dog in front of us. Our approach emphasizes positive reinforcement, reward-based learning, confidence-building, consistency, and practical skills that translate into everyday life.
We work to develop dogs who can think, learn, and navigate new experiences with confidence. Training is individualized because no two dogs (and no two handlers) have exactly the same needs.
For service dog work, this means looking beyond obedience alone. We consider temperament, adaptability, public behavior, task potential, and the demands of the environment in which a dog may eventually work.
Our goal is to help create realistic, sustainable partnerships through careful evaluation, purposeful training, and clear communication.
Experience & Continued Learning
My experience in the dog world extends beyond service dog training. I participate in dog sports and events, contribute to the local dog community, and continue to pursue opportunities to expand my knowledge and skills.
As an American Kennel Club evaluator, I can evaluate eligible dogs for programs including Canine Good Citizen, Canine Good Citizen Advanced, Canine Good Citizen Urban, Trick Dog, and Farm Dog.
I also value continued education and involvement with professional organizations and training clubs. Learning from others in the field helps me keep developing as a trainer and better serve the dogs and people who work with me.
A Personal Approach to Every Partnership
Choosing a service dog is a significant decision, and we believe families deserve honest information, thoughtful guidance, and a clear understanding of what a dog can, and cannot, offer.
We take the time to consider each dog's individual strengths, current training, and remaining development needs. We also recognize that the right match depends on the handler's goals, lifestyle, and expectations.
Whether you're exploring an available started dog or just beginning to understand the service dog journey, our goal is to help you make informed decisions and find a path forward that makes sense for you.
Let's Find the Right Path Forward
